Fuel tank sealant ?

Hello everyone. I'm fairly sure I've heard of something you can use to seal minor leaks in your fuel tank by pouring it in (tank empty of course) & swishing it around then leaving it to set. Does anyone know what this "stuff" is called & know where I can buy it ?

slopped a load of that in my gpz, worked well but you have to keep moving it around for a long time. I didn't and ended up with a very hot fuel tank and a massive lump of petseal in one corner. Obvious but, do it outside as it really whiffs.

Thanks for all the advice folks. My office/utility room is starting to stink of petrol even with the garage door closed now so not long before the kitchen then living room start ponging too. Tank only started leaking after I removed it & straightened the rear mount. That will teach me for trying to fix stuff that's already working.

There's also some stuff called Red-Kote that does the same deal. About to do mine soon as soon as I get the rust out.

Nice thought but it's for my 93 fireblade which has a Rothmans paint job so not the easiest part to replace without spending shed loads of dosh.. . . which I haven't got thanks to my FZ750 which is turning out to be anything but the cheap restoration I was hoping for.

I've got a spare TRX tank but it doesn't fit.
Whilst the picture is there does anyone think my end can would look better if it was a lot shorter ? I'm thinking of chopping nearly half of it off so it will finish where the Akrapovik sticker starts but not sure if that's a bit too short & I would value a few 2nd opinions.

Why not get the tank welded? If you can pin-point the leak, and its in a place that won't bee seen (heat will damage the panitjob locally) then get it welded. Or is that a big NO-NO for some reason??

As for the can, my opinion on these 'classic' bikes is they should look like they did. If they had shorter cans 'back in the day' then do it. If they didn't, don't!

Ditto to Trixy. While I am partial to the shorty/stumpy muffler, on the older bikes I don't think it suits very well - I'd leave it as is mate.

shortening the muffler also ultimately effects the tuning of the bike also.. Bit like choosing the right gauge gtr strings you want to use.. You can use a std gauge all round gauge that will give you the best all round mix or a light guage that will cut right to the edge on the top end or a thicker gauge that will give you that fat bottom end sound you what... Just as killers found out comparing his MAB system to his ACRA of late ones got the top end the others a good all round mix. Even tho it may only be the tail pipe it I'm sure it will still effects backpressure and engine response in some degree..

Yeah I gave all that some thought. It's probably the main reason I haven't done anything about it yet but if you saw it for real.. . . It's huge ! I'm sure 6 inches wouldn't hurt.
I use Rotopinks 9's (superlight) on both my acoustic & electric guitars.
