I've put on a fairly awful-looking (but functional) set of Swedish rearsets made (apparently) of pig iron, but the sidestand ball thingy that you use to put the stand down with your foot now comes too close to the shift lever for my big feet.
Rather than move the lever up a great deal for a trackday on Wednesday and giving myself tendonitis, I was thinking about taking the sidestand off. Being an electrical idiot, I was hoping one of you would know whether the sidestand can just be unbolted, or whether something has to be done with the sidestand switch - IOW, if you just remove the sidestand at the pivot, does the switch think the stand is permanently up or permanently down?

Or you buy real rearsets and not RAASK wich are known for making forward controls for hogs!

Are these things a sort of Scandinavian practical joke? I thought only good things came from Sweden?

Raask used to be the shit for rear-sets, but presumably long before KW was in to bikes
Back to subject, I am in the office and can't remember what the switch looks like, but either way, all You'd have to do if You remove the switch is to either connect the two wires with each other, or disconnect them. Will be quite obviouis once You try to start it. So go for it, cheap functionality is better than expensive bling...

If you remove the sidestand at the pivot the switch will think the sidestand is up.
If you remove the bracket and sidestand you will need to short the wires in the connector under the rear bodywork. iirc it's the blue one. The switch comes away with the sidestand.

Mate,
Simple solution: get a hacksaw or angle grinder and saw off the ball-on-a-stick thingy as close to the sidestand as you can.
Thats what I did cos I had the same problem with my rearsets. You can still flick the stand down fine using the foot on the bottom of it.

Thanks for the info guys. I was thinking about dremeling the ball thingy but had the same thought about whether it would be a pain getting the stand down. Think I'll do that, as it's easier than removing the stand.
