rear wheel spindle bolt!

Post by neilb10000 » Mon May 12, 2008 8:05 pm

Hello,i was just wondering if it mattered which way the rear wheel spindle(axle)went in?
My bolt is on the nearside(left as you sit on the bike)but in many of the gallery pics, some people have it the other way.
doe`s this matter?

It should go in from the right.

If you put it in from the left you will have to swap the chain pullers over too, as they are handed - the right hand one has a step in that the bolt head sits against. I thought they only fitted one way though.......

AFAIK it duznt matter at all, as long as you have the right chainadjuster block with the right end of the bolt, like youngy sez. But they will fit in either side.

Perhaps obvious, but to avoid this, when you pull the rear wheel for a tyre change (or whatever), put the dust seals/spacers, adjusters, axle nut and washer on to the spindle in the correct order (whether you leave the spindle loose or put it back on the bike).
