Hi all, any idea what the best method is to clean up the stock headers? mine have road grime and very dull rusty look due to water and road debris. can these be cleaned up and to look nice and shiny again?
Also, is there anywhere i can buy replacement headers for the trx? some nice stainless pipes maybe?
cheers!

Re: TRX headers
G'day Thumpa, the TRX headers are stainless so a bit of steel wool and elbow grease will get them looking shiny again. Maybe a bit of Autosol for the finishing touch.

your just not going fast enough.

Re: TRX headers
cool, thanks!
i have seen on the bottom of my header pipes the pipe has been scraped and pushed in a little (possible previous owner scraped it going up/down a gutter?). will this affect exhaust flow and performance?
thanks!

Yes, it will spoil power by about 20 HP!thumpa wrote:...will this affect exhaust flow and performance?...thanks!
I dented my left hand one quite heavily last year but haven't noticed any change.
I have to admit though, that I'm a rather conservative driver.
As to the steel whool, it leaves ugly scratches which you have to polish out.
So IMHO (

Re: TRX headers
AS KEV SAID steel wool and dent in pipe , you won't notice any difference unless it is dented to half a pipe

Re: TRX headers
If you're worried about scratching the pipes with regular steel wool, nip down to the local decorators shop and get a roll of 0000 grade wool - it's super fine and if you use that with Solvol I reckon you'd be quite happy with the result... You're never going to get them to a chrome type shine without a really powerful polishing mop and even then they'll still tarnish back sooner or later..
