My beast is Awoken..!
Well - finally the transplanted R1 front end is complete, the FCRs are installed and all the minor arsing about is finished.... Got to the garage for the MOT today and guess the f*ck what..? Petrol pouring out of the carb overflow pipe !!! Aaaarrrgggghhsoles... Tester looked at the bike and said : "Hmmm those are expensive carbs... done a lot of work? Done the cams yet?" How can you be smug and p!ssed off at the same time? I was, so it is possible!
So, I took my smugly p!ssed off self back down some country roads to get home... Ho Lee FOOK does the bike ever motor now!! Even though I had the standard cans on for the test, the motor is so d@mned responsive - hard to make comparisons, but I wouldn't say it's too far off as quick as the KTM which had 95 odd horsepower... She steers like she's on rails and I guess that once the brakes are bedded in it'll stop on a sixpence too. Anyway I guess the overflow was a sticky float valve cos to compound my p!ssedoffedness the leak was no more, so "Tonight Matthew, I shall be mounting a pair of SuperCorsas ...". Back to the test centre tomorrow and with ticket in hand I shall go and queue with the rest of the world for 6 months road-tax...
PS ... does the TPS mod raise or remove the rev limiter??

Greg,
Good to hear it's all sorted and to your liking. Can't comment on the R1 front end cos haven't got one, but FCR's are worth every penny. I've got them, and with a full Renegade exhaust system they upped power to 90 bhp on the dyno!
The TPS mod, which I've done, raises rev limit to 10,000. I've not checked if it will go past this.
Look forward to seeing the pics!!

Yaaas - pictures later this week prolly... I also have another TRX which I bought to sell on, but in the way of the world I didn't actually get round to it (OK Jak - we ALL know what you're thinking!) but I took the Akra off that one to put on my baby and was delighted to discover that it's a wide-bore (?) titanium jobbie ..! As light as a feather if not considerably lighter!
Hey-Ho - Happy bunnies R us!

TPS mod raises rev limiter to 10,000 rpm which in true Yamaha over optimistic style is a dyno tested 9,700 (up from 9,200)
It give an extra 1-2 bhp through the rev range but feels a bit less responsive around 4,000rpm and on partial throttle openings so I tend to only use the mod on the track.
You are right about the Akra pipework - with a Ti can my entire sytem weighs less than a standard can!

Ahhh... you caught me out!
We're all done here, but as is always the way there are still things to improve!
A picture paints a thousand words, so here ya go:

The bike itself still looks reasonably standard, but this is the list of what I've done so far.
R1 forks/yokes conversion,
Gilles Variobar system,
Thunderarse front wheel,
de-switched the ignition circuit,
The TPS mod,
FCR39's & K&N cannister filters,
Ti Akra,
Bought 200 pairs of earplugs
Blue Spots,
On the to-do list is:
Check the plugs/jetting
Set up the forks properly
Fit the AP radial master cylinder
Go one tooth down on the drive sprocket
Do the HID conversion on the twin lamp FZR unit gathering dust in the spares box
Re-finish the top yoke
Re-spray in something loud!
The carbs and forks have transformed the bike. Now it goes like a rocket and handles as if it's on rails (even if the forks are too stiff and harsh). There was a dyno thread going a while back, it's nice to know how much more power you're making, but even better just to feel the extra kick in the pants!! All I need to do now is pop my trackday cherry!
