Now that some time has passed and these seats/racks have some mileage under their belt how are they holding up? Does anything in the catch mechanism wear or it it all still fine?

Very interested in doing this myself, but it'll have to survive at least 2000 miles in Europe over bumpy roads and occasional high speeds, maybe even unlimited Autobahn speeds.
'95 4NX with K&N filter, Motad Venom cans, YSS PD valves, Ohlins fork springs, 530 C+S, Green CDI, 11/16 radial master cylinder, +30mm jack up dog bones. Enjoyable money pit.

Fine no issues what so ever! My top box sits right in the wind break my body creates, the latch has no more wear than when i fitted the box. The top box acts as a back rest when stopped! In all very happy!!

If it's not made in China, it's a fake!

This sounds brilliant.

My main concern for wear on the catch is that the box will be bouncing up as well as down, down is of course no issue because it's meant to be sat on but being pulled up was probably not part of the brief! Happily a bloke on here is selling a seat right now..

I packet the gap with self adhesive backed rubber strip, this takes up any movement on the latch. I also used loctite on the latch nuts to ensure that they don't come undone :D

Ah Mr Con Rod, yours looks quite like mine has turned out - how did you take the play out of the front of the seat? Mine is rattling around quite a bit, did you use foam around the outside like Mr Rod.S or come up with something else? Packing (a bit of tube?) around the lugs that the hooks on the seat hook under, perhaps? Also I take it that foam mounts along the plastics - is it strong enough? Does it wear at all?

Actually doing this left me with more questions than before I started!
