But, when you get the FP setup in the sweet spot it's very good.

 You've already said it, Factory Pro!!, I have OE Yam ones in mine replaced at 15,000 kms; 10,000 kms later still fine.

Setting up ? I thought the factory pro tubes were a straight swap for the Yamaha ones, job done ? Can't really see what setting up is needed for a part with no adjustment or am I (once again) missing something ? :?

:D Yep straight in, but maybe set up on a rolling road to check jetting and get the motor runing spot on.

Much different taper on the FP needles if you use them - thats why it was a time consuming setup and why the float height seemed to be v. important as it affects the mid range settings. The higher the float height (even by a couple of mm) - the less "draw" you need through the choke tube to lift the fuel into the airstream. It's a nice way to find the "sweet spot" when jetting doesn't do it.

Float height was definitely the key when I did mine. I was running 142.5's with standard air filter and modified end cans. When I got the float height right, wow! what a difference.i reckon bum dyno said an extra 3-4 hp and really good drive from down low .......... that's how it felt anyway.

I have just used the FP tubes with standard needles to cure my low down snatchy on/off throttle. It worked but I'm guessing there is no point adjusting needles or float height in my case then ?

Still worth checking the height G - even from the Factory they're seldom right................... :?
