yes the dog bone link is offset but there are several options to counter that.
Pivot width is virtually same and length from pivot to wheel pivot is the same.
Arm is in now but has thrown up a couple of issues I need to sort that I hadn't quite seen coming.
TRX shock will work fine but I have a 2012 R6 shock and the gas chamber is just fouling the arm so I either shave the arm slightly(just been powder coated) or get a new shock or Standard.
Also left hand silencer is very close to arm and may well catch so I may need to space that out. Intention was always to build a single outlet underslung exhaust ( Panigale style) so I may need to do that sooner rather than later
Not major issues, just a bit of lateral thinking and head scratching
This is very similar to what I am doing, not he is using standard trx linkages/rocker/shock with what looks like gear selector rods as dogbones

not gearshift stuff . . . too small.
Hyme joints with left and right hand thread can be sourced and solid rod with left hand thread/right hand thread to match is easily machined giving ride height adjustment

cheers

That`s it Fung rose jointed tie rods, think formula one suspension linkages and you`ll get the idea folks.

nice...cant quite see how he has countered the offset dog bone link under the swing on the rsv...would need to have a central link to make all things line up..and seeing that the link is a pull down like the trx...be hesitant to just weld one on there.!
My yzf rear swing needs to have a wider exhaust to accomodate the reinforced upper too.

There is not that much force put through that mount and unfortunately the inner bearing bush has a different o/d than the trx(i/d is same). The o/d of the bearings in there are same as trx though so I have fitted 1 trx bearing to the rhs(as you look at the pic) and I am machining up a housing that will press in up to that bearing and extend out to meet the other tie rod. This will also have a trx bearing in that end.
The alternative was just to have another tie rod made which is offset

liking your thoughts Gix.
what year and model [eg tuono/mille] rsv swing are you useing.?
and maybe a photo when youre done.
the rex in your example photo must have been a ride with the FCRs and NOS.

Like i said initially it's very do-able but quite an involved job. What you have created is a 'cantilever' system for the linkage to pivot on which means all of the weight/force is suspended from one fixed point offset to one side. This would concern me as the load/fixing point should be uniformed i.e. equally spread? I think you might find a slight drop in alignment over time? (ok - i mean a very short time

)

unless he supports the end of the bearing extension with a bracket? that would work

NWS, I respect your opinion but disagree.
I have actually machined up a bracket which slips over the end and ties it to the arm. I dont feel it will be required though and as it looks like an 'add on' I won't be using it
The spacer is machined out of an extremely hard titanium alloy and it pressed fitted into the arm. The casting on the arm is quite substantial and I have had my CAD guys at work draw all this up and put it through simulation stress testing.
I have physically exerted some extreme loads to it in its current form and it is rock solid and considering the forces which will be put through it when finished I am quite happy to ride the thing to its limits.. that will be the real test
Take a look at a standard tie rod.. there's more chance of one of those bending than this moving.
I wouldn't say machining up a spacer is an involved job though........ everything else swaps straight over and slots in

Sounds like youve done your homework on the mod..Gix..
so any idea what the origional aprilia set up was like with the swing set this way?
was the shock set over to flow the under seat exhaust..?
and what model is the swing then..?

Swinger is 03 rsvr.
I have all the aprilia linkages but I haven't tried to connect them so I am unsure how they connect up. This route seemed the most logical.
I have just secured a Nitron fully adjustable shock for an fzr 1000 so that will be on by next week. That has adjustable ride height too. It also has remote reservoir meaning it will not fould the arm like the R6 one did

I'd agree - machining up a spacer isn't an involved job.
Good luck with it, i'm looking forward to the end result.

slight bit of progress..
arm now on , nitron shock off having spring recoated, R6 subframe not full attached yet as I need to lower the rear by a couple of inches..just brought it outside to get a wider perspective..... headlight gives it 'the attitude' I want
