well, the clutchless upshifting is pretty neat. but only between 1 and 2 I feel a yank when I do a clutchless upshift. I take it that is the neutral you have to go past?
What`s that coming over the hill? Is it a T-ReX, is it a T-ReX?

Hey dash..Just have a good feed of fruit and utilise the brown bugle with a lighter to ignite and let the afterburner do its work. save mounting anything and more power to weight

Yank it all the way?.... would'nt recommend that :jerk:... well when riding the bike at least....

..... and seriously? If its a stock bike short shift from 1st to second ' cos first has a short speed range & the gear change across neutral is a clunky one. Run the remaining gears up to 7500rpm ( peak power on a stocker) and the gear change will drop you to 5500rpm, just before peak torque and primed for the drive up to peak power again. Unless you have made serious mods to the engine - the full house of flatslides, cams, pistons/big bore, full systems etc - the TRX power & torque curves drop off very fast after 7500rpm so over revving is pointless, surf the torque instead.

Oddly enough I run the ever popular 17/41 gearing cos it makes part throttle take offs around town more pleasant, but on track days ( now infrequent  ) found the longer gearing made for better drive once rolling. Should change back to the 17/39 as I now live in Adelaide and no longer have one & a half hours of suburban sprawl to trawl through to get to the riders roads .. =D> Very happy to exchange the traffic light GP's for Adelaide Hills.. :D

Now with 140,000 on the clocks, X-mas tree didn't kill it & I still love it.

ok, so the clunk and yank when upshifting from 1 to 2 is normal. yamaha huh?

maybe the clutchless upshifting will give me the edge I need to win from my brother`s bikes [-o<

so let`s hear it: how do you people sprint against other bikes or (ignorant) car drivers? :ride:
What I read in PB (when John Robinson was technical editor!) was that you get the best results by changing up at a point which will put you at or just under peak torque in the next gear. On most bikes this is coincidentally at or about peak power, which on a stock TRX is something like 7200 (7500?). So you basically ride peak torque to peak power.
