YZF750 Shock

YZF750 Shock
I have a YZF750R shock that I was going to have rebuilt and fit it to the TRX. Has anyone fitted one before? Was there any mods required? The remote reservoir is a lot bigger and looks like it will foul the bodywork and might also get in the way of the seat lock. The hose is also shorter and looks so it will need to be made longer. Any advice from someone who has gone down this path before we be much appreciated.

sold that one and now have an Ohlins unit with hydralic preload. The remote on that is a little larger also and I don't use the std mounting bracket but have cabletied it inplace in the same spot. there is a small lug from memory on the frame that deturmines how far it can sit.. Just put a small rubber boot over this ,but when tied inplace it doesnt rub or move. Pretty sure there is just a small amount of pressure on the side of the tank from the rear cowling but not really an issue. Just remember the yzf750 shock is 5mm shorter than std.

I had some 5mm shorter dogbones to bring your ride height close to std again. The yzf dogbones being 10mm shorter.

Cheers for the feedback and pictures Brian. I have a set of Kayla's dogbones here anyway so I can deal with the height change if needed. There is a guy at Slacks Creek that is an authorised Ohlins service centre so I might get him to rebuild it for the TRX.

I've dropped that shock off to Scott Heyes, Cobba. He should be getting around to it today (had to wait for his tools to return from PI + previous bookings)
He reckons with that shock he might be able to find the 5mm internally. Then fit the ride height adjustable base

I'm trying to find where I have the stroke of the shock written down. I remember something about the later 95/96 model yzf750's may have had a different pivot and only a 330mm eye to eye shock. Suspension improvement..at Randall st Slacks ck.. Yet know the one Rich.. Wanted to charge me $1050 to rebuild n revalve the R1 forks.. Udaysen mentioned the other day he saw him too while Dave was fitting the R6 front on his bike and was quoted the same.. That's why I went through MPE. Paul charged me the same price and revalved the forks to suit the trx also doing a full rebuild using all racetec internals including gold valves on both rebound and compression . He also rebuilt the Ohlins shock , revalved and resprung it all to suit my weight and weight of the bike. All for my $1050 .. Pays to ring around.. I'm heading up to see Paul within the next couple of weeks to Drop Pat's forks from his hornet for rebuild also. From memory he wanted $200 for the rear shock service/ rebuild and $160 if needing to be resprung for the Ohlins. Let us know if you choose MPE as the more I drop off there the better the haggle.

I was quoted 1400 for a brand new ohlins yzf monoshock for my bike in slacks creek. Still a bit expensive.

Pat ended up going with the Wilbers for the rear at $1079 from the Dist here in Aust.
