Blue Spot Question?

Hey everyone, new member here, first post/thread

I did a quick search, couldn't really find the answer I was looking for, as I know things about the blue spot upgrade is popular...hope this question isn't too silly

With the upgrade...which brakes pads do you use? The normal TRX ones (EBC or similar?) or do you have to get pads from whichever model bike the blue spots came off of (R1/R6?)

Blue spots or the gold spots are the go, chances are you will have the origional set of pads in the purchased calipers, otherwise quote the model they are from.
A set of braided lines to suit the SAME model the calipers are from and a 14mm master cylinder..[ try to buy the calipers and master together--cheaper]
The TRX has a 5/8 master,..

Hey mate thanks for the reply. It's got braided lines on it I suit the original calipers, are the banjo fittings a different size to the blue spots, or is it just the line size/master cylinder that is different? Upgrading mainly coz the original discs are a tad warped so a bit of shake under heavy braking. Is the master cylinder upgrade a must, or an option?

Yeah sorry, I am in Australia not too many other TRX's where I live, not that I've seen anyway

Your trx braided lines may bo ok on blue spots.
There are two types, of blue spot, one with line connection on top and one on side.
Think the side connection ones need a slight bend at the banjo on the line.
The standard lines for a trx dont have it.
Dont need to upgrade master cylinder, no, blue spots work fine with trx cylinder.
Warped discs?? Sort 'em out mate!

Trixy: I am not sure which connection the new calipers have, will have a looksie when they get here, but there is some spare slack in the lines that are on it, so if I need to a brake place should be able to snip the original banjo off and put an angled one in if that is what's required thanks already got new waves discs ordered, thought I might as well do the blue spots while everything is off and apart right least that's what I tell the mrs

Fluro: Yeah thanks, saw the thread about SA TRX/TDM riders, am interested I haven't ridden anything on 2 wheels for going on more than 2 years now, so still very much getting the feel of it again...how do you guys ride? Just a leisurely stroll or a bit enthusiastic? Imagine from starting at Crafers there'd be a lotta Bull Creek/Delamere? I live up Salisbury way. In the time I haven't been riding, I've been an interstate truckie...so piled on the weight living on greasy road house food only to get a new bike and not be able to fit into my gear anymore lol...boots/pants etc are fine...but neither the mesh or leather jacket is cutting it right now, so might havta give the November ride a miss purely on the fact that I currently have no protective gear

Thumper, if you order braided lines from HEL stating what bike it's for, what type of master cylinder you have and what type of calipers they will make it up for you specially. I run 2003 R6 calipers but still have the TRX master cylinder. I do have a brand new R6 master cylinder that I will EVENTUALLY put on the bike, though.

Hi Bob. I'd really rather not replace the braided lines anytime soon, they are only about 2 months old, bought the bike off a mate. Does the master cylinder, if replaced, have to be from the same year/generation r6/r1? Or are they all pretty much the same?

I you can use the standard lines with the blue spots, you just need to route them differently.

Does anyone know the length of the TRX brake lines?
I just got two new Venhill twin lines delivered but they look quite short to me, I'm not sure I got the right lengths...
My bike sits in a garage 30km from me so if someone knows the lenght required I'd be very happy

In that case I'm in the clear, the new lines are 690 and 710mm.

Coming from tall dual sports bikes these brake lines look really short!
