I`ll keep my eye out for any too, they can be bought in Australia I believe. Maybe one of the Aussie members could send one over for you?

Re: A war of few words
The mirrors are from an 06 R1, I modded the R1 mirror to fit onto the original TRX base, it works well and although is longer (I can see around my elbows now) still has the same amount of vibration as the original, I take some photo's when i do the other sideM.V. wrote:How did that work out & what year was it?Rod.s wrote:...I've fitted the R1 left hand mirror to gauge the effectiveness of it...
I'm after some new mirrors!

Cheers, thanks for the info Rod.S, much appreciated! Luggage is looking very good BTW.
Kenny, I got a Pyramid carbon look one from these guys: http://myworld.ebay.com.au/solomotorcycleimports/ for $24AUD the other week, I can see any listed on eBay, but it might be worth a call/email.

Re: A war of few words
Well the racks are all (almost) finished and have had their first test ride, I loaded them up with bar bells (4.5Kg) and all the other things that i would need on a trip, wet's, first aid kit, tools, etc etc and Trev and i took Friday off to test out his and my mounting
Well his is an overkill and weights 10Kg alone
my rack is 1.2Kg plus 1.5Kg for the side bags! Anyway the trip was a leisurely 440K's and all went well.....except that the side bags are locked in place with a "t" lock...and well....i forgot to lock them in and coming home the right hand bag came adrift, thankfully they have a strap that connects the two, this adds some support and stopped the bag from falling completely off, lesson learnt! LOCK the bags in place before riding off

Your rack system is a damn sight prettier than the one on the Suzuki that`s for sure.

Re: A war of few words
I wanted a reliable system for carrying luggage on the TRX that keeps the water out.
I had a spare pillion seat and managed to blag a top used top box so unashamedly copied this idea.
This is the box

I removed the cover and sponge from the pillion seat and did a trial fit of the base for the box

then I put some holes on the seat sponge in the appropriate spots and put a new cover on the pillion seat.

I made some holes for my bolts and mounted the top box base to the pillion seat

Took off my pillion seat and popped on the spare one with the top box bracket mounted

and then put the top box one the mount and bobs your uncle

EXCELLENT Job
, I intend to do something similar but with a self made stainless rack because I actually like the stock TRX seat unit it`s period and right for the bike.

Re: A war of few words
ok, well 9kg in the box over 4 days, 3000km. Some heavy rain. Varying speeds and surfaces. All good no issues what so ever. I was a bit concerned that the forces from the weight, speed etc might be a bit much for the seat mount but all good. Very happy

Mate the seat was designed to accommodate a "normal person"Con Rod wrote:ok, well 9kg in the box over 4 days, 3000km. Some heavy rain. Varying speeds and surfaces. All good no issues what so ever.
