Well, I was on my way to work this morning when....
I got sideswiped by a drunk P plate driver in a Honda Civic!
Pulled out of a sidestreet, there was nothing coming at all.
Pulled into the inside lane nearest the median strip and was accelerating to 60kmh.
100 metres down the road I hear this screaming engine noise which at first I thought was a bike.
Didn't even have time to look before I was sidestruck. Luckily the point of impact was the the handlebar barend.
It was like one of those COPS tv shows where they show drivers careering out of control.
He fishtailed twice then ran straight into a powerpole.
I was able to keep upright and pull over.
He was in the foetal position on the road, and when I asked him if he was ok, he said yes. Then I called him A STUPID F$#@ER (I know its not very christian,BUT)
Cops and the Ambo's turned up and we all exchanged details then he was carted off to hospital.
My wife turned up and was relieved that I was ok and minimal damage to the bike (bent handlebar and the steering's been knocked to the right)
One of the witnesses said that this car had passed him earlier and was doing 100kmh......I reckon when he hit me he was doing 80 - 90 in a 60 zone.
I had to get to work, so my wife followed me home and I grabbed the car and was only an hour late.
Only just got home and I think it's only starting to sink in.................

Yeak Kayla I'm fine. I'm just amazed the I didn't get hurt, or fall off and there is very minimal damage to the bike (not even a scratch in the paintwork or a bent exhaust or footpeg?) I keep finding broken bits of his tail lights all over the place but (I reckon that was his point of contact with me) Very Lucky!
Should buy a lottery ticket.

Jeez, sounds like a very near miss there Bobman, could have been a lot worse.
You'll prolly get the shakes later when it sinks in and you get a bit of shock.
Well done for not thumping the fool too!

Re: Well, I was on my way to work this morning when....
Bit of an update.
Did end up getting a bit of the shakes today when I went back to work.
Dropped in at the mechanics and they said pretty much an easy fix, as I had hoped.
Am still able to ride the bike.
Just waiting for due process as far as the insurance goes and it should be back on the road in a day or 2
Really think I should buy a lottery ticket.
