Fitting Radiator Guard.

When my guard arrives, i will take it down to my favourite radiator repairman and get him to spray it with rad paint.
cures hard and sticks to alloys well.

I'll try running mine through the dishwasher, that should pickle the surface and give a decent 'tooth' for the paint to bight on. I used White Knight matt engine enamel from Bunnings and it's holding up extremely well on the prototype so far.

Is this just mild steel punched plate Dave?
I have a stainless guard on mine, painting unnecessary.

I have been missing in action through most of winter up here. Blame the economy...I am.

I have been doing a few trips on the old girl lately. I have not noticed much change in the TEMP of the bike at all.

I have, however, noted that the bugs are on the rad-guard now....sheesh did not know we collected that many.

It is doing the job well.....and I am slack and still have not got the broken bolt fixed. I am loving the zip tie right now.

Hi guys,

I also got one of Davamb's radiator guards in the bulk buy. After reading some of the other comments on
here, I did a test fit first to see how it all lined up. As mentioned in a previous post, I needed to slot one
of the bottom mounting holes slightly & I also trimmed 3mm off each side of the guard so it just cleared
the radiator tanks while still covering the core (originally it sat against the tanks) I then had it anodized
black & bolted it all back on. Perfect!!

Only other thing I've noticed is that the forkleg contacts the top mounting of the guard just before full
lock - not a problem but if I was doing another one I'd just trim a tiny bit off the corners.
