:-) Sharky stays :-)

Post by meemo_meh » Sat Dec 09, 2006 1:02 pm

hey all somehow have found a way to get around selling the bike. Good garage to put it in, promise of track days ;-), and trips to Mt Mee n Maleny upon our trips to Brissy. So Sharky and Shayne stay together for a litte while longer ;-) At least now I can start organising to come along for next years Gingers ride.

Thanks Glen. I was gonna come n see you all @ CC on Friday night but my bike wasnt ready... :(

Oh I wouldnt of told you eh? Well I took the bike to a local mechanic down here to give it a service and change chain/sprockets etc. When I picked it up I noticed a small oil leak which had developed around the oil filter case... 'Oops' he said, 'dont think I put that O ring back in....' hmmmm so I said that i'd head to TAFE as I was late and if it continued to leak then I would return it to him again the next day. Well got about halfway to TAFE, and I heard this rattly noise coming from under my bike... so I thought, hmm ok I will pull over after this here corner and check it out. So going around the corner.. and my rear wheel completely seizes up! Lucky there was enough gravel run off on the side of the road (bit of a tight corner this one ;-)) so skidded off the road, into the gravel, and parked neatly next to a couple of trees... Cause? The rear caliper simply fell off and got caught up in the rear wheel, seizing it. some stupid bastard didnt do the bolts up of the calipers did he? ........... and for once it wasnt me! hmph.. so uninstalled the brake, and putted back to the mechanic with the female wrath thing happening. All in all damage done was a damaged rear wheel, cracked disc and beaten up caliper.. Hey could of been worse, but got a new polished rim out of it and a full refund for the work done/not done. *sigh* Its all good.

Place out Cleveland way. Yeah he stuffed up big time, but he went way out of his way to fix the problem up and extra to make up for nearly killin me .... So will give him some credit.. But no, I wont be going back there again.

Dunno about not using him again. If it was a GENUINE mistake and he was as gutted (or more so) than you were about it, then maybe you will get extra special treatment in the future? It's worth at least maybe checking him out?
Rubber side down, Red side up is my preferred riding style.

The thing is that I live 6hours away from this shop anyway. I simply used him whilst I was in the staying in the area so 6weeks. That and I generally dont trust mechanics anyway... Just from past exp
