When the motor`s bolted in at the rear up to that cast alloy `H` section it keeps everything nice and rigid. I reckon one mount up by the head would be fine and dandy.

Perfectly `safe`. Often motors are hung in spine frames with minimal engine mounting. The TRX frame is a very rigid design, the motor isn`t required to beef it up acting as a stressed member.

As said, i´m using the TRX head and other parts and using flatslides etc...I would want to have that lug also!coxylaad wrote:would that be safe?
I would prefer to have a lug welded onto the head if possible.

Re: winter project.....
As safe as it is, I think in the interests of my OCD I think I will look into getting a lug welded onto there just like the other side.
Not sure how feasible that will be as its right near the head gasket. Dont really want anything warping there.

Re: winter project.....
well, I think I will be utilizing the TDM900 mounting points and adding some frame drop outs to hook them up.

Right you are, if one don´t own a pair of FCR´s i guess it´s better to go for injection!coxylaad wrote:the tdm900 throttle bodies wont mount to the TRX 850 head. so I exchange one problem for another!

Re: winter project.....
Look up Quan-time`s posts and threads, he`s actually bored throttle bodies out to 41mm if I remember correctly. The thread you want also shows his flow bench and silicon mouldings of the head / inlet and exhaust tracts too.
I`m good to you lot:

This way you`ll have the advantages of FCR41`s with the injection system. For anything related to quality information about tuning TRX`s Quan`s posts are the ones to look up.

Good stuff that, although thats a lot of graft there for I am not sure what gain I would get.
If it released 110+bhp from the engine and retains its midrange punch I would be interested, but I worry you are just going to push the power further up the rev range and lose the midrange, which is the character of the engine to me.
I would like to have a genuine 100bhp engine with big mid range towque mind
