How does this sound to you?

Post by gregs656 » Thu Feb 25, 2010 5:37 pm

I'm a little worried about the noises from our trixie. I did a spate of 3 mile each way commuting and I reckon it didn't do my bike any favors at all. Went down to plymouth on here in November and she never missed a beat, hardly used since then.

Booked it on to have the valve clearances done, but is that likely to be the issue here? I reckon me and trixie are in the for long haul so I don't particularly want her to go pop. Thoughts!

Aye but how does it sound to you. They're quite noisey engines and I can't decide if I'm convincing my self there's a problem . . .

mine has always made a feck load of noise from the top end - and even more when I put Kent cams in

clearances etc all OK so put it down to 'character'

I took it to a mechanic round here who knows his shit when it comes to yammys and he reckons it sounds fine and I'm just being and idiot. He did say I might find I get a bit more cam chain rattle until it loosens off enough to go into it's next click of adjustment, but basically not to worry about it.

Does sound good 8)

I think because it's quite a noisey engine, I get used to certain rattles for a while and then for what ever reason notice them again and convince my self they're new. After nearly two years and how ever many thousands of miles I would know what the bloody thing sounded like!

the TRX couldnt make more noise if it was desired that way. Its just inherent in its design nature, as phuk said.

5 valve, direct onto buckets, chain design, style of chain, its just REALLY noisy.. and i love it to bits !

WELL AS LONG AS YOU FOUND SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING THATS HALF THE BATTLE   FIRST FELLOW I SAW WHEN LOOKING AT GETTING A NEW CAMCHAIN LOOKED AT THE BIKE TOLD ME OF A BAD EXPERIENCE HE HAD OF A TRADE IN THAT NEEDED A FULL REBUILD,LOOKED AT THE 100,000KM ODD ON THE CLOCK AND STARTED THE MOTOR WITH THE SLIDES IN THE FCR'S RATTLING AWAY. STRAIGHT AWAY HE LOOKED AT ME AND SAID WITH THAT AMOUNT OF NOISE I'D BE GETTING RID OF IT   PAT AND HIS IGNORANCE ALL BECAUSE OF HIS PREVIOUS BAD EXPERIENCE ON A TRX
