Hi Col,

I know you said to pm you, but I found this website reasonably useful so I thought I'd post it so others can encounter it also. The website is www.trademe.co.nz and if you copy/paste this link (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/SearchR ... ype=Search) into your browser window it comes up with a fair few TRX's - varying price range. Hope this helps :D
Understeer - when you hit the fence with the front of the bike.
Oversteer - when you hit the fence with the rear of the bike.
Horsepower - how fast you hit the fence.
Torque - how far you take the fence with you.

Ah I see...well that site may also help you...apart from that maybe evilBay or even findapart.com (works in Aussie - dunno about NZ). Hope that helps a bit more :D

Is this any use?

It looks like the same reg/rec that's fitted to a lot of Yamahas (probably most, given Yam's parts sharing), it's certainly the same as the TZR250. Maybe you could find one from another model and mod it to fit? I think it's three phase in from the genny and single phase (12V) out, earthed to the frame.

www.findapart.com.au failing that try http://www.motorcycle-parts.com.au/Yamaha_Road.htm
they list TRX850 stock, and upgraded items.

I run bigger coils, computer and a LCD screen, and i run off the stock alt / RR.. so you should be fine.

Hope this helps

PS: a TDM850 should be the same, so try show and go motorcycles in adelaide. They will probably reply on findapart.com.au...
