Plans for the winter?

Post by Kayla » Sat Nov 08, 2008 7:09 pm

Well, seeing as how the rubbish weather has descended on us like a, er, big descendy thing, I've been thinking about what to do to my bike over the winter months and I've come up with this list-

1. Tidy it up, generally. The frame's starting to blister in places and there are bolts and stuff that can be replaced with stainless. Not a massive job but not particularly exciting either :| I have a spare frame that I was considering having powder coated satin black and just rebuilding the bike around that. The red frame looks nice but black is factory

2. A tad more power. I'm saving for some FCRs and I'd quite like an Akrapovic 2-1 system as well please Santa. I'd also like to fit a big bore kit but that will have to wait for now.

3. A tad less weight. If I get a 2-1 then that'll help, but I'd like a proper solo seat and maybe a pattern endurance fairing. I like the shape of the standard stuff but that R6/R7 flavoured TRX on the Pferrer site is yummy. I'll see if I can get some of the brackets made up in ally too. I'll be removing the speedo drive and using an ally spacer instead once I get my backside around to buying a Vapor dash thinger.

4. Sort the suspension. I have some Thundercat forks to fit and I'd like to get the shock rebuilt too.

What're you lot planning*, if anything?

* for your bikes, I mean, not plans for world domination or anything. You should maybe start a separate thread for stuff like that.

:? Poly26 belly pan and front mudguard, bit more personalisation, weight loss, the bike not me, when I can afford it.

World domination, I just don't have the time at the moment, maybe next year after I finish the garden.

I shall be mainly riding mine.

My TDR needs attention but chances are I'll leave it as and not worry about the shite on the roads. Hopefully Mrs Phuk will pass her test and give me an excuse to buy another bike to play with

Here's my plan ...

TRX: Top end job, try to f*ck up the inlet tracts all by myself, blast clean the barrels, polish the unobtanium downpipes, manufacture a single-seat tailpiece, respray in ivory pearlescent and navy blue stripe...

T125 ... reassemble now that the chroming's done

T200 ... start the restoration ..

then think about decorating the bedrooms...

I don't know cos I've never ridden a bike with them on. They look nice though, and I think Gibsons can make a detachable can version that looks a little racier (I prefer the look of those ones). I've only ever ridden an RZ250 with standard pipes and a couple of TZR250s with standard pipes and one with Swarbricks (sound ace but really peaky).

Putting world domination aside, my other plan is quite simple: Disamble the YZF750, swap interesting parts to the TRX and sell the rest of it. :D
But.. easier said then done, I'm afraid. 8-[
And, before I cut it down into parts, I have to go to the German autobahn with the YZF, because I never tested the top speed!

Summer down under too..last winter saved for my fcr's and bluespot and just fitted them yesterday. YYYEEERRRRR...WWWWOOOOOHHHOOOO. Now didnt that make a difference and 16tooth front spkt. Cant wait for the big bore system and airpods from santa.. Looks like suspension will be the next wish list for winter.

Just done the last(?) mod recently, some other wheels. So I'm done for 2008 and hope to ride (more) than the past two years in 2009! That said, other calipers are a wishfull thinking and easy to buy and to swap ... so... hmmzzz.

Riding mine hopefully. 'street fighting' it as well, just to protect the now damaged fairing.
