trx & tdm engines

Looking for an engine for 1997 trx850.
Is the tdm850 the same engine and will it drop stright in the frame.

I have a TRX engine available. It came out of my written off bike. Ran fine and probably still does.

The TDM motor is not the same. It has a different first gear and neutral switch. It fits the TRX frame just the same though.

there are 2 different types of TDM 850 engines, both have the same engine mounts but different internals(180/360crank or 270crank)
the earlier mk1/3VD(91-95) model is different
the later mk2/4TX(96-00) model is the same apart from 1st,2nd,3rd gear ratios and TPS/gear/neutal sensors but will be a straight swap fitment and electrics wise....
there are a few differences on the 4TX 96-98/99-00 but nothing major

Hello. My TRX engine broke down (head & crank shaft and some other things) so basically I need a replacement engine... to fix the current one will cost 4300euros (just the parts) here in Finland at the Yamaha Dealer.

There are not very many TRXs in Finland so the used spare parts are impossible to find here.

I found one engine on eBay (around 300 pounds) and it is in England. But I should arrange the delivery to Finland somehow... DHL Airmail is about 1500euros...

Do you know if the TDM900 fits to 1996 TRX frame? There is one in Finland. Or should I forget that engine?

One option is to fit the GSXR 1000 Turbo engine (there is a group of fearless boys in Lappland who can provide and fit the engine and register it as street leagal... I just haven´t got the cost estimation from them yet) to the frame. Then I would have around 180hp-250hp (...more is possible, but totally unnessessary). That might be if I continue to build it Street Fighter -style...

Hi, you propably do not have that engine anymore? If you do would you be willing to send it to Finland somehow? Snailmail or camel-back mail ok for me , the cheapest possibe option.
