YZF750R swingarm plug and play spec's

Post by jpe70 » Tue Jan 12, 2021 7:10 pm

So, got this YZF750 swingarm and it didn't fit right up as everyone says. Why? Because it's different in the pivot end and most that swap do get all the parts and don't think about it. And I got a swingarm without those parts...

Stock TRX (and YZF1000 Thunderace) swingarm measures 253 mm in pivot end at the frame. YZF750 ditto is actually only 246 mm. The axle sleeve is the same on all three bikes so the YZF use spacers on each side to fill the gap. The R that is. SP version use a needle bearing set with 2 shims instead to take up the missing 3.5 mm on each side.

My used swingarm was very clean, but came without neither. So I was a bit stumped after all reading and things still did not fit. The YZF swingarm IS a drop-in into the frame, but you need the spacers that should go with it.

Shim 3XV221270000 or Bearing set 933422251800
Cover 3FV221280000, identical to TRX & T-Ace
Bush/sleeve 3FV221840000, same as TRX & T-Ace

Otherwise the parts-bin mentality shows. On a naked YZF swingarm you use pivot sleeve and ditto for dog bones from TRX or Thunderace. Rear axle and adjustment blocks are same as Thunderace, pit stand spools are same as TRX if you want them, and adjuster bolts are similar to almost every other Yamaha with block adjustment. Internal width at the axle is the same as Thunderace...

So ... why don't you order those shims, for €8 each and you're good to go!

Finding the stuff is not the issue, once I realized what I had was not complete. As of 2021 both bearing sets and spacers are available from basically any dealer with Yamaha parts.

And I've already had a set made. :)

Measurements are ID = 25 mm, OD = 42 mm, thickness 3.5 mm
