Re: Bent Output Shaft?
like I said electric impact wrench will do it every time - machine mart off the shelf - also useful bit of kit to have around - buy one and you will cover the cost of a dealer looking at it + you will now have an electric impact wrench
win win

Okay, if it'll get the sucker off I'll buy one - got a link for that one on Amazon SDN?Overlord Neil wrote:I saw a mains powered electric impact wrench on Amazon for about £60, puts out a claimed 460Nm which should undo just about anything, provided your sockets can take the impact. Cordless wrenches tend to put out much less (unless they are REALLY expensive) and the windy guns are generally only as good as your compressor. I nearly bought one but really can't justify it at the moment, first tough nut I'll be placing an order though.
A good impact wrench and you shouldn't need to involve the wife on brakes, jamming wheels etc (all good ideas, though) as it will just frighten the nut off.

Re: Bent Output Shaft?
Stupid thought, but, have the teeth worn off the front sprocket ???? If so it is going to be a hard job. Good luck.
Cheers,
Alan.

If the impact hammer (wrench) doesn't work you might have to get a nut splitter or just grind it off like a good butcher would. Good luck.

Re: Bent Output Shaft?
Thanks all, I got it eventually. I had to put the old chain back on and wire the links together where I'd broken it off. With the sprocket snugged into the chain and a bar through the rear wheel it came off pretty easily. New sprocket fits new chain like a glove so job done. I can finally get it out for a blast!
