Cheers Snod - good to exchange info - here's the pic I saw of the plastic version - on Con Rod's thread

I, err.. Hmmm. I remember reading that thread many times, but I don't remember any plastic I had to break out. Far as I can recall the wavy clip held the steel dairylea adjuster in place directly. A quick look on my phone reveals more pictures, ones that I didn't use for the guide - probably because they're blurry, this phone really enjoys focusing on the background. I hope it's enough to convince you there was no gold plastic sleeve though in full res, cropped to suit:

So perhaps there are actually three types of forks around? Curiouser and curiouser..

Mine was also a metal adjuster (UK) but shiny steel
Still, they're more uniform than 70s RDs - I'm currently rebuilding an RD250/350 - completely different generation and some really dubious engineering practices but hey, it was 40 years ago and Brit shite was just dying a death
Then there's the smell of 2 stroke - bowel moving like no other - chemists should stock the smell...............

Re: A guide to fitting Cartridge Emulators to a 4NX (56K war
It wouldn't surprise me if they kept changing them, the way my adjuster was wearing out the holes in the rod made the suspension guy assume it had all been added later as a mod - I had to convince him it was stock! So perhaps these forks got modified to make them sporty enough for the TRX's intended market, and then knowing it would wear they tried the plastic bush.. Then got bored and went back to steel but a different design? No way of us normal people knowing though. Point is, none of it worked
