New Tyre Confusion advice needed...

greetings all ,

just got my trx,

am loving it so far.

yet another tyre question...yes i have read the other threads and i still can't make a decision..

has some fairly crap tyres bt56 front
bt20 rear.

front needs replacing.
the rear is ok tread wise but does seem to skip about a bit, some of that could be me though... but anyway i am quite indifferent to the tyre.

i need confidence inspiring tyre or tyres that will give me ok wear and good wet grip on the occasions it does get wet.

i don't have to have the stickiest as i am still on a learning curve.

i also want to spend nearer to £150 than £200 if poss.

if i leave the rear tyre on i'll also need something not to conflict with it.

any help much appreciated as i need to get this sorted asap and don't wanna buy some tyres i hate.

There's a fair few threads about tyre choice already (look further into the forum and you'll find a tyre section) - but I'm sure you'll get a few posting here with their opinions

You didn't buy it from a guy called Alan over in the Brecon area did you?

I've used Metzler Sportec M1 (oldest) and M3 (old) and been very pleased. good wet grip and sticky enough for trackday, and still good mileage (i did more than 10000 kms including a handful of trackdays with the M3 rear). Since Metzler has a new model (M5), you might find good deals on the older models (preferably M3, M1s will be old).

There's a bunch of other alternatives as well, you would probably be happy with less sticky rubbers as well.

Michelin Pilot Road 2. Dual compound, heaps of grips, great in the wet... Take slightly longer to warm up than my old Shinkos, but just take it easy for a klm or two.

Currently using them, & there's a few here that do as well. Don't know about price in your neck of the woods, around $500 AUD fitted...

I'd replace them as a pair if you can.

Dunlop road smarts are supposed to be good too, but I haven't tried them, & I don't know of anyone using them on a TRX.

nope it came from telford.

cheers m8, these are in my top 3 to choose from...i was going to get corsas, but i think these sound better. i can get a pair for around £190;best price i hav found yet.

Finally got round to sorting this out - merged the two threads - hopefully it all makes sense (I might delete a couple of posts to tidy it up)

no, hope not anyway, i think its more the rear doesn't like poor road surfaces and me not quite used to the massive engine braking yet..
