YZF rear and 180 tyre...

Close to getting my YZF rear wheel in with 180 tyre.

The 180 tyre is about 63cm diameter, and the 160 rear is about 59cm. Is this gonna effect my gearing much?

Anyone out there that can do the maths?

Cheers,

Dave.

On those figures, you're going to be 106.8% bigger.

standard back sprocket is 39, 2 teeth off the back would mean a reduction from 105.4%. So that's very nearly what you have with the standard tyre.

Cheers for that Burty, so.........

........if I've gone down one tooth on the front sprocket, and the rear is the same 39 sprocket but with the new tyre, is this going to take me back to more or less 'standard' gearing?

One tooth off the front is worth 2.3 ish off the rear, so you'll be more or less on standard gearing.

You`ll have to modify the stock TRX swingarm if you really want to go down that route, R1 uses a bigger diameter wheel spindle and I seem to recall that you cannot get bearings with an o/d to suit the R1 wheel, but with an i/d to suit a TRX wheel spindle.
Unless somebody knows different :?:
Go Thunderace swingarm with rear wheel assembly and you can have the larger diameter rear wheel spindle though.
