R6 rear end

Post by dixonj » Sun Feb 16, 2014 7:04 pm

This winters project was to strip my bike down and have the frame powder coated, after stripping the frame down I found the rear end to be pitted with rust especially round the rear foot rest mounts. Rather than scrap the frame I thought I would have a go at grafting an R6 rear sub frame onto what was left of my frame. Here are the results

Image
frame as it came off my bike looks ok but when I cleaned off the paint it was well pitted

with the rear end all fitted you can't see the R6 sub frame.
Big thank to my son Dan for all the welding and Paul for telling to go ahead and have a go and the R6 sub frame :D :D

That's a job well done! =D> what's the treatment on the swing arm? Is it just a buff?

Nice job! I have a café racer setup but looking at S-F setup n' checking opt for ducktale selections to choose my liking...

Any issues securing the front of seat? Did u use standard slot/ bracket by tank?
