Aftermarket Brake Discs/Rotors

What options have people gone with on stock TRX wheels? I've got some unknown brand very rattly/jingly aka very full floating discs that came on the bike out of Japan. Haven't had any issues for the last 4 years but the shop that just fitted my tires reckons that they shouldn't be as loose as they are and recommended replacing them, also pointed out the fact that my rear disc is pretty poked - something I already knew, but haven't been bothered to sort.

I've found a set of Galfer wave front discs for $600aud shipped - are there any other options around a similar price that are worth looking at.

What do you recommend for the rear brake disc? The only ones I've been able to find so far are cheap Chinese non-branded knockoffs.

Why replace them if they work?

if you are concerned that they are floating too much, have the dowells (floating bits) replaced. IIRC about 5 thou is how much they should move

Here's a video of them. Obviously they aren't this noisy on the bike, but the play would be in the 1-2mm region. They've always been like that and I've had others tell me its normal but this mechanic seemed genuinely concerned.

If there's still plenty of meat on them .. Call Metalgear as im pretty sure they do maintainence on your existing discs.. Might be a lot cheaper option than forking out $400 to $600 for new ones and postage would be under $20
