Clear headlight glass?

I'm halfway through an HID Projector retrofit & while I haven't tested it, I expect my standard headlight glass will take away some brilliance & my nice sharp cutoff :?

Any idea if there is a clear headlight glass that will suit? I know there's a half & half...

You mean a FZR600 3HE headlight?
Uses projector type for normal light (H1) which is very suitable for HID xenon.
High beam is reflector type (H3).

So I think you can't use the kit you have now, i reckom that is H4?

I think that's the one, but I'm not using that one. I am doing this:
rsz_1hidproj.jpg
Which is a HID bi-Xenon projector for the standard TRX headlight.

I am running the FZR twin Halogen Projectors at the moment, which are ok, but the HID Projector will be better!

Not trying to poohoo the idea, but, are you sure that'll work? Does the HID lens give a narrow beam or spread? the standard headlight lens is designed for the lamp to be situated at the back of the headlight bucket, allowing for the light to contact the reflector and finally the lens/glass giving an even spread of light. Will this do the same? :)

Yes, it's Bi-Xenon, it has a little manual cutoff shield for hi/lo that s switched with the hi beam button.

I'm not sure, no. That's why I'm trying to see if there is a clear version of our headlight glass available ;) I'm not sure what the pattern on the headlight glass actually does, but I assume if diffuses the light so you don't get hot spots.

The HID Projector gives a very good spread of light, with very sharp cutoff outside of the beam area, so the light itself will be up to the task, I'm just worried that my nice sharp cutoff will be ruined. Even so, it will still probably be sharper than the original :)

I have been thinking of doing the same but with two projectors. One high one low. Where did u get the projector from? U can get good ones from the US. Don't think the outer glas will make too much of a difference as I have twin projectors installed with no major lens problem.

I have the FZR projectors at the moment (or had, more later...) which I tried to convert to HID, that didn't work very well.

The problem with a HID for low & high is the globes take a bit of time to reach their peak, ie if you're flicking between low & high, you will see them get brighter. Probably not such an issue if you run low & high beam together though.

I installed the glass over the weekend & installed the headlight last night, very happy with the result. Some blurring of the cutoff where it dips for the oncoming traffic, but otherwise a pretty sharp cutoff.

Nice flood of light in the foreground & to the side, which doesn't change when you go to high beam, you just get more beam further out. It's hard to get good photos, but the headlight glass only has a minimal effect.

Yeah, it will be good. I'll try & take it our tonight to align it & try to get some good pics.
