Anyone know anything about these? Any first/second hand experience?

For those who don't know, they're like emulators but they allow the use of 5w oil so you don't have to modify the damper rod to negate the damping it would give. You also don't modify the rebound, as Ricor apparently found that the super quick rebound you get using such thin oil had nothing but benefits. Most people even keep their original springs! For the ease of installation and apparent effectiveness they seem like a bargain, but I'm still not convinced.

By the way I linked to the SV650 ones because SVs use the same emulator model as TRXs so in theory they might be a straight fit?

Can't see how they can work on TRX damper rods without opening up the damper tubes to allow copious amounts of oil to get to the Intimators.
They look like an imitation Race of Tech emulators but 5W oil seems pretty light. You could use them with 10W oil and slacken off the spring tensioner to reduce the compression damping but still have reasonable rebound................................

This is what I was thinking but perhaps the claimed change in damping between wheel and chassis movement means the wheel is kept down on the road and not allowed to bounce? They don't say how this is actually done though!


Dandywarhol - the use of thin oil means the holes in the rod are more than enough, so no modification is necessary. The makers also don't recommend the use of anything more than 7.5w so thicker oil is not really an option.

Personally I'm not too interested as my seals need replacing and I have to replace the damper rod to a larger 4UN one for anything to fit, so after all that I'll just fit Gold Valves, but it presents a good value and easier alternative for others with suitable forks.
