Re: DIY 520 Conversion
2006 to 2008 R6 drive sprockets fit, I know because I had a 15 tooth varient in 525 on my TRX for a while.
You`ll definately get those in a 520 as they`re so commonly raced.

Re: DIY 520 Conversion
I went back & did some more research, the JT sprocket for the TRX is listed for the R6 as well, some models only though, namely 06-12.Mincehead wrote:2006 to 2008 R6 drive sprockets fit, I know because I had a 15 tooth varient in 525 on my TRX for a while.

So I think the one I've ordered should work, it's Driven sprocket in 520. Still waiting for it to turn up though...

The front sprocket turned up, very nice.
However, to get to this, there's a few caveats.
The old sprocket:
The new sprocket. It's a bad photo, but you can see a gap, the new sprocket offset is a little off.

Re: DIY 520 Conversion
How much of a gap? Well, my verniers are broken, so I can't tell you exactly, but it's about the thickness of the locking washer used on the front
So, washer on the front, washer on the back & we're good to go. I'm not sure it will make that much of a difference, but I guess it can't hurt... Not sure if it's all the R6 sprockets that are like that or just this one.
Seems alright.
Flipped the rear sprocket, the holes are slightly larger than the TRX sprocket, but not an issue.

Re: DIY 520 Conversion
Apparently the rear is a 45T, not a 43
Which leaves me with this:
Which is where I stopped for the night. Not sure if I have enough adjustment to make this work, but I'm usually supposed by how little it takes to take up the slack.
So: 520 conversion, check.
You need: everything in the original post, plus a spare locking washer to space the spocket

It's as clean as it's going to get, until I strip it down & repaint it next year. After that I'll take some pride in keeping it clean.

Re: DIY 520 Conversion
Well, my chain is rooted! But three or so years out of that one, pretty happy with.
Have ordered a new chain, same again, only $85 this time, rear sprocket looks fine, but I think I'll order a new front just to be on the safe side.

Re: DIY 520 Conversion
Discovered this thread when looking for options on the more expensive 525 chains - good info, thanks.
Looks like front sprockets are easy enough, but it looks like the NX650 rears don't come smaller than 43 teeth? Was hoping to keep my 16/39 or perhaps 17/41 gearing. Anyone have any other rear sprocket hints?

Which admittedly doesn't help in your search for a 41 tooth, but it's closer.

Re: DIY 520 Conversion
Hey MV,
My chains is close to dumping, am keen for the same conversion. To Clarify can u please confirm as below:
Front Sprocket and spacer:
Rear Sprocket:
Any spacers or bolts or things I may need to install.
How the conversion going now that you have used it a fair bit?
