speedometer options (Lets start an ultimate guide)

Right then....im looking for a speedo for the trx as i have lost the drive off the front wheel due to the r1 conversion.

Having looked at a few speedo's i think this is the one for me

The Veypor VR2

AuStreetfighter is selling what they call a GP style digital speedo unit for around $420AUD. It looks suspiciously like a GSXR unit to me, but I reckon the Veypor would give you more features.

Have you found out how easy it will be to fit to the bike.

and how does it measure things like drag and rpm.

I am using a lynx, from US. they have one with a tacho now as well easy t install and came with a few diferent types of magnetic pickups

Acewell do a neat little unit (speedo, tacho, idiot lights etc) for about Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£150 - http://www.banditmania.co.uk

Even better than that, I was chatting to Grant at GP Performance and he is about to start stocking some units (I think by Trail tech) that do the same but look even better. He didn't have any in a month or so ago but he may be worth ringing.

Jacko, the instalation looks pretty straight forward, Plus it supports a helmet head up display, and an array of additional sensors. and the customer service seems really hot for this too

I veered away from the acewell items in the end as it took me 3 weeks them to answer the phone/email. also looking on the net it appears reliability is not the strongest point of the acewell.

I looked at the Trail tech but seemed a little too small for what i was after

Kim,

How do you find it to read? I'm thinking of getting the Vapor (includes Tach) for the Guzzi (the original gauges are typical Italian shit). My eyesight isn't what it used to be (need reading glasses but OK for everything else)

Waz,

I find it easy to read

, this is the speedo version only and the speed display is quite large. If you power it off the bike directly then the backlight is aways on and quite bright. Clock is handy as well, odometer, top speed, avg speed, ride time based on odometer, ride time based on total kilometers. has all sorts of laptiming capabilities for track/enduro if you wanted to. Also slides off the mount in case you were concerned with someone walking off with it. let me know if your out for a ride around seq and perhaps we could catchup

Waz, they supplid 3 different magnets - one in a bolt, one you could stick on and one extra. I drilled the disk mounting and used the bolt. As i mentioned to them that it was not for one of there specific models they supplied 2 extra pickup/cable combinations , I cable tied the best one temporarily to the fork leg 3000kllms ago and have not had a problem. the only setup is the wheel diameter and there are a couple of ways to do this. all pretty easy
