Must admit the idea is taken from the Troy Bayliss ride experience day that is on offer at the Eastern Creek track.
And as my almost 9 year old son has a high ability autism, i would like to be sure that the little fella is on the back and secure.
Now we all have winced at the look of anyone perched on the back of a sports bike and leaning foreward to hang onto the rider..but also putting a lot of weight onto the riders wrists...
photo of troy bayliss and passenger with the pillion handlebar set up to the fuel tank will explain my direction..Her indoors might even try it...

I think they would be ok for an adult or older (taller, longer arms.~) kid

I like the idea of them, I am waiting a bit for my 6yr old to get a bit bigger and stronger before taking him out on the bike, I'm sure he will love it but do have the same sort of safety concerns as you Alex,

I have seen the love handles before, they look like a good idea too.

From a fun point of view the tank bars would get my vote (if they fit) as the little bikers would really get the feel of the bike and be able to imagine themselves riding it, neeeaaaaaaaaawwwwwwww

I suppose they would be fairly easy to make up, with the right equipment, a few bracket and a pair of steel bars.......

The passenger bars setup would be easy to make. I would start with a renntec or similar grabrail to get the fixing points sorted then extend its side-rails forwards, upwards and then left and right.

The love-handles work well - mini-me used them quite happily. I'm sure the Bayliss bars would work great for adults ... not sure if most kids have long enough arms though! Olputt is the one to ask as his better half has used the Bayliss bars (lucky lucky girl!!!!!). In fact I remember we talked about it in the thread (goes away to find the link before you say it!!)
