TRX with 6 gears

Post by Tarwetijger » Fri Apr 06, 2012 4:14 pm

I've laid my hands on a TRX with 6-gear-box. I bought it from a chap who worked for Yamaha for a couple of years and therefore had access to such rare parts. Due to his career and having kids, he sold his bike - for a very reasonable price. :o I had to buy two pairs of shoes for my wife to make up for this, but I really couldn't let this go!
I also got some additional information on paper which I like to share with you TRX enthusiast here.

The original 5-gear-box came with the bike and is packed in the YEC 6-gear box. That has some numbers:

The numbers shown are:
4NX-17410-70
4NX-17420-70
4NX-18512-70
4NX-18513-70
4NX-18540-70

The paper I got is even more interesting:

The 4FM-numbers refer to the YZF750R so i think the gearbox is mainly based on YZF750R gears with the axles being specially desigend for the TRX engine. 3LD refers to XTZ750 Tenere, but it's only the 'housing'.

Oh, here's the bike:

OV15a ran a YZF750R box with little modification. I`ve seen illustrations of it somewhere on the WWW but ferked if I can remember where and I never bookmarked it either! #-o
