R6 Swinger (04)

Hi, I've tried a search and cannot find any info....
Has anyone tried an R6 swingarm (04) on a TRX?
I managed to happen across a complete rear end, wheel, arm shock rolling and I'm toying with the idea of grafting it on.
Problem is, I am currently hiding the TRX at a mates house until I've sweet talked the missus so I can tell her I've bought it :roll: . This makes it difficult to take measurements.
I'm used to doing, swinger/engine and front end swaps so fabbing isn't an issue, just wondered if anyone else had tried it before and if so what issues you came across

Another member Quan-Time has utilised an R1 swingarm but it was far from straightforward, for interest read through this thread :wink: :

I`ve not heard of an R6 swingarm being used in a TRX but it `may` have been done. 8)
I must say it doesn`t look like it`ll be easy:

It just looks too long.
I bought the rear end on a whim as I wanted a shock and it was all cheap
Looks like I'll have to drag the bits up to my mates and start doing some measurements

I've done some initial measurements and I am pretty sure it will go without too much work. I don't know above the pivot diamters and the spacing between the cradle on the main frame. The R6 swinger is just a touch longer, probably 20mm, as the pivot point on the R6 is a fair bit closer to the engine than on the TRX. I've seen the Aprilia RSV(?) swingarm used and it only required a slight removing of material from the inside of the cradle. I am going to be doing the same thing to mine, 2003 model when I get the funds and put a late model R6 front end on as well. I'm not fussed whether is Yamaha or not but it just happens that they are the two that I picked out.

Geeez, it,d fall into the corners with the extra length...however, guessing if the swing pivot is the right diameter, and the shock be made to fit and the dog bones adjusted.......but then there is probably a thought naging as to why someone hasnt gone this way before..[which is why the question..due respect]....another however.....those aprilia banana swings are a thing of beauty...note that one from Germany that had the front and back aprilia gear..no reports on how it went though.
Can i have your motor if you make a mess of it..? :roll: :lol:

To be perfectly honest I haven't taken any measurements yet.
As I said, I bought the whole rear end as I wanted the shock and it was cheap...if I don't fit it I can sell it all on and get a shock for free
I will not be fitting it if it is too long, part of the reason I bought a TRX is the handling
My trx is currently in hiding but I will take a length measurement of the R6 swinger when I get home as well as width at pivot point, may be then someone can tell me a trx dimension to compare with.
I had thought about the Aprilia route but its all the add on that cost a fortune..Oz wheels, brembo brakes etc

Is that based upon swingarm measurements you have?
Just googled and found the r6 wheelbase to be 1380mm versus trx at 1435mm.
Now I know that frame head angle and swinger pivot points play a large point in that but as I said I will get my arm measurements when I get home

it may be ashorter wheelbase on the R6 but the actual swingarm is longer. I'd be interested to see the actual dimensions of the swingarm and I'll go out the the shed and measure the frame for you.

I'm baaack. Right - the pivot 'bolt' is 20mm diameter. The sleeve that the bearings actually run on is 24.5mm diameter. The distance between the inside faces in the cradle is 255mm +/-1mm.
