I may have put a deposit down on an MT09 setup.

Nice one,

This should be good, I like the idea. Be very interesting to see where it ends up weight wise. Should be a very light bike.

I really hope Yamaha bring out a super-sport with the MT09 engine at some point, but if they don't I I could potentially follow your lead in the future

Dont wait for Yamaha. Find a rolling chassis and built your own at a fraction of the price.

I'll do a new build thread for it when I start and close this one off.

I'll document any problems or issues I come across as I go so if someone else wants to do it there will be a guide of sorts.

The sound of the triple with open pipes will be great but I'll miss the noise of the twin however.

Right so its official, it looks like I am definitely going to turn the trx into an 850 triple, so I am shortly going to be selling my 900 setup as a trx conversion.

It will be ready to drop straight in as a conversion to make your bike a modern version faithful to the original.

I probably sell the package to include engine, throttle bodies, loom and power commander and quickshifter

proven to be as quick as a trx 850 with fcr's with 60mpg on the roads, impeccable manners and has never ever not started first time.

I'll put an add in the for sale section soon but its definitely going up for sale.

anyone interested?

Well its all fallen through. on close inspection of my dads tracer the cylinder head on the mt09 lump is 30mm wider than the TRX one, which means it wont fit in the frame. The guy has offered to sell me the mt09 frame as well but then I am just building a new bike!

Bit gutted, and I have probably lost me deposit, my fault for not checking properly before jumping in.

So I am now back to square one, not sure what do with the bike. it needs a bit more power for the tracks i run at, so I either sell the old girl and get something else, or I invest a bit and lightly tune the engine.

unsure what to do at the moment.

Stick a porta-power between the top rails, should be able to flex it enough to fit.
Alternatively, or maybe also, grind bit off each side of the head.
I've got an FZR1000 donk jammed into a YFZ750 frame using similar methods.
She'll be right, no worries mate.

I didnt want to modify the frame rails. I then run the risk of compromising the integrity of the chassis.

I dont think its a goer. is it?

Its back on. its just a slightly bigger project than I anticipated!

I need it to work as its the only way I will get the right power output from the bike.
