Cobba's wiring takes a fused live feed to a relay and out the relay to a "Y" split feeding the red/black terminals of the original coils. The original red/black positive feed now triggers the relay and earths to the frame. That's my understanding of it - Cobba might like to interject. For "accessory" , read COIL

The TDM900 setup MAY be different because it doesn't appear to have a wasted spark

And to contradict my previous post - if using an Ignitech TCIP4, then 1.5 ohm COPs could be used if you set the TCIP4 to a short dwell time ............. :? Onward and upward

I should just be able to Tee off the output of the relay to each coil input as its only the supply to it not the trigger.

Aye that's what I had problems getting my befuddled old brain around until Brian stepped me through it................ :clock:

Looks like you could wire it into the starting circuit cut off relay which would bypass any possible voltage drops from the idiot switches

Ordered:
1m of 7mm silicone HT leads, in a fetching red :)
a 30amp fused relay
2m of 30amp cable

I have plenty of 30amp spade connectors, that lot should be sufficient to wire my coils direct to the battery.

i had a little blast out last night and it pulled a bit better than it did on track, making me think the super wet track day was causing HT problems.

As cobba says - wire the coils directly (through a fuse) and use an existing coil supply lead to power the relay when you switch on the ignition

yep, piece of pish

I took the bike up my local test track last night and managed 112mph on race chrono going up hill before I ran out of road.

I will do the mods and see if it makes any difference.

I considered selling the TRX, but I have now decided to invest in the engine to see what I can get out of it. I have a set of oversized valves on the way and will also be fitting some carillo rods, cams and a set of 940cc pistons.

120bhp is the target.

yes that is an option.

to do that I would have to weld the bracket on the head that is missing on the 900 lump.

also I am not sure how the compression is raised on that engine, I assume that its done by skimming the head given the pistons are stock, which means if I fit a 940cc kit which the pistons give 11.1 CR then I would end up with something crazy.

On another note, If I build this new engine I might look into uprating my ecu to a fully mappape affair. The power commander does a decent job, but if I run bigger throttle bodies, and a heavily modified engine then I would prefer something that allows me much more adjustment with ignition also.

Ignitech do an Ignijet unit, which pretty much is exactly what I am looking for, and the latest one has a traction control set too!

DID YOU KNOW, that the MT09 engine has the same mounting points and is the same width as our trx engine?...

Just putting it out there...

Funny you should mention that, I ran a tape over one a few weeks back.

I had a day out on the roads earlier this year with a well sorted ex trackday bike with an Arrow exhaust system - absolutely stonking motor!
