r1 swingarm into a trx

hello

im building a fighter based on a trx

mods are

3vd engine ( i prefer it owning a yamaha xtz750 )

r1 front and rear end

carbon fibre unsupported seat unit ( no subframe )

xt600e headlight unit in carbon fibre

and alot more

i need some advice on fitting the r1 swingarm does it fit ( was told and seen it done ) and what mods do i have to do ?

Ah well that`s quite a bit of work, view Quantimes posts on here he has done it.It does involve cutting (if I remember correctly) around 2"/50mm or more from the front of the swingarm and then welding back on the pivot.

Can I ask WHY?
There is virtually zero flex from the stock swingarm and you can fit the YZF750 wheel if it`s wider rubber you`re after.Oh and remember wider doesn`t mean better handling, the stock 160 gives plenty of contact patch for the power that even a tuned TRX will be giving.
A wider rear tyre will make the bike less flickable too, something I like about the TRX myself.

its not so much the tyre size but the length because what i failed on purpose to mention is the bike is having a garrett gt12 turbo slapped on it once its on the road
so i need something longer to keep the front end down

plus my swingarm has been extensivly modified its a motogp rep with filled in bracing and excentric adjusters for quick removal of the wheel so dont wana modify it frther cos its a nightmare

is the mounting sleeve on the r1 swinger wider ?

The width I believe is the same but only Quantime could confirm that unless other members know for sure.

If someone has a YZF750 swingarm they could measure across the pivot length and post it up here, they go straight in the TRX mounting on the large alloy sub frame.

yea turbo will be once its on the road so i can get used to the riding experience of a road bike ( only the second and the first was a szr660 ) then ill turbo it when im comfortable

itll only produce about 120 bhp but itll be incredably torquey which i love

itll be a summer toy and will not ever see even a dull day

just hope all the plannin comes together

Just a nickname, self imposed one as at times ma heeds mince!

Oh and there`s at least one other on here that has been an SZR660 owner, me I`ve got an MuZ Skorpion too, one of three puppies in the basket.
Something else, just remembered that a Thunderace swingarm also fits the TRX.

Well, well, now there`s a thing I almost bid on that too.The Paoli upside downies and the alloy banana swingarm go straight in a Skorpion.
The TZR 125 disc that the SZR used is cheaper to replace than the standard Grimeca and the Yamaha wheels are a full 8 kilos lighter than the Grimeca wheels on a Skorpion too!
Just a bit of a trek from Edinburgh to Romney Marsh and with my custom yokes due for payment, Xmas around the corner and some maintenance needing to be done on my `cage` which will absorb some cash, I decided to let it pass.
Big end failure on that SZR eh, almost unheard of on the XTZ/SZR motors, I`m guessing poor oil quality or ignoring the frequent changes those motors need was to blame.
The last but not least bike I own is an old 1978 Yamaha SR500, currently in a state of rebuild but she`s bored to 537cc, high comp Wiseco, lots of other goodies, the cam`s been metal sprayed and re-ground to some specification me and a guy in America who races an SR came up with, more lift and duration.
Big Mk2 Amal, flowed big valve head, 40 mm bore exhaust terminating in an unsilenced Gold Star `silencer`, oil end fed cam followers, and loads of other bits and modifications.
A pretty quick old girl!
My TRX is fightered but with lots to do yet, she wears a pair of FCR41`s and some big bore carbon stubbies that have got me 88.1 bhp at the wheel, recently checked at the Dyno when I was at Stormin The Castle.An Ohlins shock, modified seat unit with indicators behind mesh along with two small, square LED light units.The front is bare with twin spots (for now).There`s an R1, 98 to 01 fork set going in her with a custom bottom yoke, blue or gold spots (I need to decide which), GSXR750 radial master cylinder, Pazzo levers, billet top yoke and all the usual extras.
I`ve got a lot of plans Tony, constraints are time and money as always.

The YZF750 and Thunderace swingarms do go straight in but they're the same length as the TRX one An R6 (or R1) arm is around 50mm longer but I have no idea about the bolt-straight-in-ability of them, sorry.
