On-going TRX Project

Details of this project have appeared on the pbmagforum, but seeing as I was invited to this site sometime in late January, I have decided that it was about time to sign up and post some pictures of the work so far.

She started life as a blue 1999 TRX, but since then has received V2 camshafts, a modified airbox, carb tuning, homemade megaphones, a port and polish on the heads, an FZR1000 oil cooler was installed, FZR1000 6-piston front calipers, YZF750 rear swingarm, braided steel lines on the front, a fibreglass and case cover, homemade oggy knobs, a multitude of machined spacers etc, billet footrests, rear wheel centre painted gold with polished rims (new front wheel to receive the same treatment), flush mount front indicators, aluminium numberplate hanger/rear indicator brackets, carbon fibre rear hugger modified to suit yzf swingarm, billet clutch cover and a radiator guard made from stainless mesh.

Since these photos an FZR1000 upside down front suspension unit has been garnered to replace the standard set-up, and it in turn has been modified to run eibach 0.9kg springs, as well as modifications to the damping and valves. Aluminium risers to take the intended drag bars have also been manufactured and fitted. Modifications have started on the front mudguard too, it's been vented and extended with a piece of manx norton rear guard. The vents are yet to have mesh put behind them though.

G'day and welcome to the site,

You've got a good list of mods going on!
How do you find the V2 cams? were they fitted when you got the bike or did you fit them your self? just curious as I've read some articles and spoken to people that have fitted them and they have said that without stronger valve springs the v2 cams are a disaster waiting to happen :shock:
Hate to be a doom sayer but was just wondering if you'd heared about this problem.
How loud are the pipes I bet they sound awesome :twisted:

Cams installed by self, bike was bought new. I have 30 000km's on them with the standard valve springs and they're going great, checked the clearances after 20 000km and they were fine. The cams added a lot of fuk'n grunt man.
