Build wise, dunno. They are good, I've seen a bunch and compared to my SP Tadao set, they are less prone to vibration cracks.phuk72 wrote:

Akra's are always good looking. But OVER spent a ton of development time on the TDM (Engine, OVER frame) / TRX when they were racing them over here so performance wise you can't go wrong. Akrapovic pipes came out much later as far as I know. They may have looked at what the other builders did and built on that.
Put it this way though, any good free breathing large bore pipe is going to work on the TRX. It's not a sewing machine.

Umm.. sec.. I see the guy mentioned it was first held together with springs and apparently it's not now...
Which leads me to believe he's had it welded up, which is a no-no. I've had to gusset the crap out of my one piece Tadao pipe and weld up many cracks. Those springs (and a bit of leaking isn't going to hurt) are what keeps it flexible and from falling apart...
Some good high temp sealant will slow some blow by, if it's a bit of carbon stain your worried about... clean it! lol
I wouldn't pay to much for them if they've been welded together.

Every now and then a clean set pops up on Yahoo Auction Japan.

over pipes
I havnt looked at the auction for a few days. Was going to bid but Taz,s warning about them being welded together has put me off a bit. I had pipe master carbon cans on origanal headers but they delaminated,so they replaced them for no cost with another set of carbon ( wrapped ) cans.they too melted. So they put on a stainless set ( again at no cost ) So icould get the headers made & one L/H can is dented & scratched from my crash, about 1000 bucks or bid on the over ones? whadya reckon?

Re: over pipes
I heard today of someone here on the Gold Coast who rebuilds these things (cans, mufflers) including new outer metal as well as inners. I dont have any more info as yet, but as soon as I find out I will post it up, I thort you may be interested if the ebay thing falls over.brinx wrote:I havnt looked at the auction for a few days. Was going to bid but Taz,s warning about them being welded together has put me off a bit.
