Re: Bafflectomy
ie by following above instructions then rewelding new flange/disc on to the baffle where you have drilled it out drilling three holes in that to correspond with the existing allen bolts and there you have bolt on/off baffle In fact I'm going to try it and will post pics if successful
the TRX made me do it officer!

That would be great!Banger wrote:ie by following above instructions then rewelding new flange/disc on to the baffle where you have drilled it out drilling three holes in that to correspond with the existing allen bolts and there you have bolt on/off baffle In fact I'm going to try it and will post pics if successful
I have run my bike for years with a set of cans that are loud as h...
At one point I realised I got too much attention from those I didn't want attention from..... Putting in a db-killer I got from ebay didn't do much difference at all. Now I'm back to the stock pipes, but a little more boom from time to time wouldn't hurt.

Re: Bafflectomy
If the dB killers don´t do much the cans often need a repack...zod wrote:That would be great!Banger wrote:ie by following above instructions then rewelding new flange/disc on to the baffle where you have drilled it out drilling three holes in that to correspond with the existing allen bolts and there you have bolt on/off baffle In fact I'm going to try it and will post pics if successful

Re: Bafflectomy
Just wondering how big a drill bit you used to make the holes in the baffle plate?Red Rex wrote:All the little holes add up to a bit more than the original 'standard' pipe area (plus a bit to be sure not to restrict gas flow of course).

Nor was mine.
It was a little stiff , I had to use both hands and tug it quite hard, but it came off eventually.

Re: Bafflectomy
Performed a bafflectomy. Started with the whole fully covered with a perforated sink strainer which sounded much better than stock if a tad quieter than I was hoping. Moved to a central hole of about 26mm ( picked as it happened to match the size of the perforations and a hole saw I had) which was louder but strangely annoyingly so. It was giving me a headache. When removing these "baffles" the annoying pitch disappeared to I went the whole hog and opened out the strainers to about 48mm. The strainers are really just there to cover the untidy debaffle work underneath. Its a lot easier to tidy up the soft aluminium than the stainless cans. The results are near perfect to my ear. Loud but not obnoxiously so.
Some mates at work were interested in hearing the result so I took the bike into the underground car park for a show and tell. After it had set off 4 car alarms they gave it the official thumbs up.
