Seat re-covering

Post by Jak » Thu Aug 24, 2006 12:23 am

Posted this on the main TRX site but as that seems to be dead at the mo I thought I'd ask you all on here............

Now I've finally got my lovely new thin pillion seat sorted (thanks Phuk) ... I just need to get the little seat pad between rider & pillion re-covered.

At the NEC last year I had a chat with a place that will do it at a very nice price :D ... plus they'll add writing if I want ... soooooooo .... should I have it done:
 plain
 "TRX"
 "850"
 "Jak"
.... also what colour should the letters be:
 black - so it looks embossed
 blue - to match my quiet little scorpions (and the blue tape holding my leathers together!! :D)

I'd go with either TRX or Jak (Well, actually it would sat "TaZ", "R8.5" or something...) in the black you mentioned or maybe a dark gray. I'm not really one for adding splashes of color, 9 times out of ten it tends to turn out lookin' cheap. Then again, I'm just an old out of shape drunk.

I forgot to vote... Voted for "Jak". The bike already has "TRX" written on both sides of the seat cowl just centimeters from the pad anyhow. And knowing you never plan on selling the bike, why not have your name on it! :D

Well, I would guess that TaZ would put something like "Ducati Killer" on the seat

Dude beats one Ducati 999 in an endurance race and the rest of us get to hear about it at every opportunity

Seriously, I agree with Max/TaZ on the Jak and on the black or grey -- of course that might be because I am an even older, more out of shape drunk than HE is

Reminds me of the episode of American Chopper when the redneck father points out to his simple son, the gay connotations of sitting on your fathers face.

"Now I gotta picture of my father's face on my seat."

Whatever you decide I'm sure we will all want to see the finished product.

TRX or Jak, depending on whether you ever plan to sell the bike.

My choice would always be to keep colours out, as it can look tacky IMHO.

Hi Jak!

My vote was for "Jak", too - I'm gonna get me a sticker saying "HolerTogni" (a friend of mine owns a cutting plotter :D )

As to the color - since I like different colors on one bike - I would vote for putting the letters in blue. But it depends on how accurately the blue color of your "silencers" can be matched!

'Colored' greetings from Munich!
