Panniers or saddlebags

Post by Hazzawithah » Sat Aug 25, 2007 6:14 am

Not sure if this is the right forum but...
I am thinking of taking a big trip: Sydney to Perth on the TRX and wanted to buy soma panniers for the bike. Then I realised that the upsweeping pipes are going to be a real problem for the type of case I've got in mind.
The other alternative is to get a hard top case and just settle for saddle bags, but then, the problem I imagine is the chaffing of the bags against the side panels, which stick out a fair bit. Plus, I prefer to keep the rear rack empty.
Another alternative was to build my own out of plywood, but that could be dangerous, if you've seen my kitchen renovations...
Has anybody solved this problem before or do I need to get a Beemer?

Most soft panniers for sport bikes will fit no worry's. I have Moto Dry and they work fine. Add a Ventura rack and bag and your sweet.
Suncoasttrx in another world.

Mate I think Pete is onto it. I had some of the Motodrys on my Suzy and they where great.

Or

Buy my FJR off me. only 19k from new. Great bike but believe it or not I like the TRX better, and my wife doesn't want to do the big miles any more.
