Rebirth of my TRX

My bike got damaged with a crash on a Fiat Punto's backdoor.
The car came in front of me on a crossroads althought I had
the priority to cross.. Nothing to do, but luckily I survived with neck-
and backache. The mental suffering was worse..
The insurance of the opposite side should compensate my loss..

The front-end with the R6 light and fairing is wrecked.
The meter board has to be replaced also with something, thinking
of the Koso RX1n. The new BT1100 meters are also quite nice,
but hard to find as second hand.

Few pictures of the progress..
Some plagiating of the Quan-Times project can and will be seen..Sorry about that, but luckily I'm pretty sure that the bikes will not be seen
on the same parking lot..

take any ideas you want and go with it..

Ill actually give you a heads up on the steering lock.. dummy fit the top triple clamp and you need to grind some of the weld off on the lug where the normal steering lock was. Let me tell you from experience, you DONT want to assemble it and find out after your steering lock doesnt work.. takes ages to pull it down, and re-do it all..

How is it Quan, is the front wheel in your bike from R1?
I'm trying to fit the TRX wheel, but Bearing seems to be a problem,
otherwise it fits nicely..
It would need 22x40mm bearing as the TRX bearing is 17 x 40. But
looks like there ain't a bearing like 22 x 40, 22x 44 (6022) can be found..

I fitted the TRX wheel by getting some 40 x 3/4" bearings and getting a new axle turned down to size. This allows the 18mm thread to slip thru the 19.25mm (3/4) bearing.

Evolution continues, almost ready for road. I machined the wheel bearing housing to fit the 22/44mm bearing for the R1 front axle. The wheel just fitted into my lathe. Seems to work still only a short test on gravel.

KOSO RX1n meterboard, has a lot of free space on the RPM's side

i personally got a R1 front wheel when i got the whole front end.. Luckily mates who run the bike shop said "how much of the front do you want ?" i said everything cept the levers.. even my handle bar welded clip-ons are actually original R1 units ive chopped to suit my purposes.

I thought about the trx front, but didnt want to go to the hassle of machining the whole bastard front wheel.. Sure you can do it, but its hard to sneek a whole wheel into a place that doesnt allow homers... such is life.

To get over my speedo issue, if you look at my custom dash, i used a push bike speedo.. Where the front disk is mounted to the inner disk via 8 studs, they are all stainless, BUT one has a magnet pressed into it. On the inside of the fork leg ive hidden wires for the sensor.. works a charm

but i do like that you can use a stock speedo cable.. but personally, i thought it was ugly.
Look into the RD350 speedo conversion.. Someone found a way to mount a R1 cluster to a RD350 with some resistors and some wiring.. might be good for you possibly ?

Has been used on the garage for several years, will last for ever..

Okay, now the bike is ready for road. Already been ridden for some 200km.. The R1 front forks feels quite different compared to original. Also the ride position is leaning much more to forward, but not as bad as on my previous -99 R6.
The swingarm and the front end are also marked on the registration book, so the bike is "legal" except the Akra-pipe..
Some painting is needed to be done, but that will have to wait to winter,
I like the R1 color, maybe the tank and the rear fairing should be colored the same way...
The mirrors will be changed to R1 ones..

The old version as reference..without the triumph swingarm..

And the evolution after crash..

Way to go Woti,

Do you still have the (standard, it's a 6 inch wheel) 190 tyre on ?
I have a 180 cause a 190 rubbed against the chain.
