Gold spots and master cylinder

Post by Kolyzer » Thu Aug 15, 2019 8:48 am

Hi guys

I bought a TRX this spring and I am loving it so far. I do feel that the front brake is lacking bite. So I have decided to upgrade to the gold or blue spots. I have sourced the parts on eBay I just need confirmation that it is the correct parts.
Master cylinder:

Gold spots:

Thanks in advance

Mike

Master cylinder will have a 14 stamped on the underside where the std trx will have 5/8.
Gold spots will fit ok.
Braided lines make all the difference too than the old rubber std lines.

Cool i Will contact the seller and ask about if it is stamped with 14.
Regarding the braided lines, would you recommend any brand in particular?

It most certainly is since early R1 and R6 use the same brakes. Otherwise just get a master for a 98-02 R1, it's really the same item but guaranteed a fit.
Not really any recommendations, I use Wezmoto because they look good and comes for a reasonable price: http://vi.raptor.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBayIS ... 5895065974

Thanks man. I see you have linked lines for a r1, will the length be okay for a TRX?

TRX will need longer lines than an R1 / R6 but the TRX lines will fit into the spot Calipers ok.

There is quite a number of bike that use a 14mm M/C.
Talk to a motorcycle wrecker and ask for a 14 mm master as you may find what you need a lot cheaper...

Yes, I use the R1 lines. I have slightly lower bars than stock, but lines are long... I think (can't really remember) it was the stock R1 lines mounted before with stock bars.

So folks suggest a 14 mm M/C whit the blue spots? Not the stock 5/8 that is ~16mm? Some Yamaha´s use a 16mm M/C whit the blue spots, like the YZF1000/750, the FZS600/1000 use a 14mm M/C however

The size differs depending on whether it's a radial or "normal" master. Old style 14 mm pump equals 16-17 mm radial pump. And yes, the suggestion would be the M/C that comes with the calipers, not the TRX stock or similar. It will work, but you could just as well saved your money and changed the lines only.
