The Yoshi carb

Post by 00mike00 » Wed Feb 28, 2018 2:23 pm

Hi guys,
I have the bike running well with the only modifications being Blue Flame exhausts, R6 suspension front and back, digital clocks and a fuel pump.

Would you guys recommend the Yoshimura carb? If so, what does it require in addition to just purchasing it, or does it just bolt straight on?
I’m fairly certain my bike is running the standard air filter but would you also recommend the K&N filter for better flow?

Thanks!

Keihin FCR or Mikuni TDMR carbs... pricey and don’t come up second often but it’s best bang for buck! Get the kit with cables & filter, goes in place of standard carbs and obviously have to be jetted to suit your engine.

Use the search function, that will give you all the info you’ll ever need!

What are yoshimura carbs? I've never heard of those.

If I remember correctly there are one or two on this forum not selling very fast.

I happen to have both, FCR & TDMR. 8-[

Is there a reason they are better than the Yoshi set then?
How much for either of them and what are the benefits of doing a swap?

I have some FCR41s going for £550 if you're interested list price new is crazy, would include foam filter and K&N for breather hose and new intake rubbers. They are specific for TRX and include TPS

I can not tell you as I still don't know what a Yoshi set is.

Both Keihin FCR and Mikuni TDMR are flatslide carbs and although they are not cheap, there is no better way for bolt-on extra horsepower.

I'm not willing to sell, yet. But there is already an offer above.

Benefits: a bit more power, better throttle response, nice typical sound from the intake: "BRÔAP". :D

Yoshi make 'kits' from Keihin FCR's and Mikuni TDMR's, as well as their own small carb for Honda Apes.
I've never seen any of them outside of Japan.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a decent modification to the TRX.

I'd certainly be interested in them if you still have them. :D

Personal preference, I’d take the Mikuni carbies. Much better at fuel atomisation and why you find up to 10Nm more in midrange than FCR’s and well worth the loss of 1-2 hp up top.
