Just got off the phone to Bob, a gentleman I sold an IGNITECH ignition module to for his salt flat racer.
Stock std trx with a wet mix of nitrous he would hit at for 3 second blasts from 6500rpm onwards.
Jetting set ups given with the nitrous kit where for an increase of 10hp/20,30 and 40hp gains in power.
20hp shots got him upto 120mph at 9500rpm but it was a bit fatal on the 40hp shot and detonated the motor.
But as he mentioned he was still running the default ignition map and as he said, "I think I should have retarded the timing."
So I forwarded contact details for Arias as now he's chasing some forged Pistons for the rebuild for next years event and working on a revised map for his ignition.
Now this will be a fun experiment to get involved in...

Re: TRX 850 on nitrous
Nope , 120mph
Yes I questioned the gearing too so I sent Bob the gear commander link to sort his gearing out.
He can put sprocket choice and tyre circumfrence in there to get around things.
Bit of an amateur outfit but they are having fun in the process which is what they are all about.

Re: TRX 850 on nitrous
Sounds like a lot of effort to get 120mph, I suppose it depends what kind of run-up he has (or hasn't got). As with most things, if you can afford it and you're having fun... why the hell not!

Just got off the phone to Bob at team Venom and their nitrous trx850 land speed cart/buggy thingo...
Blew a hole through 1 piston on the std motor so he has contacted Arias to get some 868 10.5:1 forged pistons and it will be interesting to see how they go early next year on this project.

Haha, yep, nailed it!cobbadiggabuddyblooo wrote: But as he mentioned he was still running the default ignition map and as he said, "I think I should have retarded the timing."
I'm on the lookout for a stock airbox for my VFR project, there's an ingition/fueling module available that can do timing & fuel, with mulitple maps, so I'm looking into a dry nitrous setup injected into the airbox. With the unit, you can set a second map that will activate the nitrous with the VTEC, retard the timing & dump a heap more fuel in, should be quite fun
