I flush mounted the tail light and chopped the rear guard. Looks way better and cost a big fat nothing.

The top bracket fixing bolt here cannot be too long as it effects the movement of the cable release for the seat.



Of course changing bulbs from now on may take a tool kit but what the....

The light could be reccesed a little too far for some and I might shift it rearward to block that hole at the top, but his is not visable unless you get down and have a close look.

The first thing to do is remove the body work from the rear of the bike then excavate the plastics so the light can be pushed back. I just used a hard back saw (Actually a leatherman wave)
The next challenge is to make the Bolt that holds the bracket the exact allowable length , becasue it effects the cable release for the rear seat. The rear seat then has to sit on those 2 bolt heads, so the holes that used to hold the rubber cushions now have to accomodate the bolt heads. Adjustment in and out of the light is by the two bolts being much smaller than the original holes in the frame. Use Nylock nuts and large washers under neath, loosen off to move around then re tighten.
There is a gap left around the lens because the dimensions get smaller as it is pushed back, so you finish fanatics probably would not like it but...


Probably too simple to impress but I like the look now and I won't be hunting for LED setups now...can't be bothered.

They are the rarely seen stockers with the baffles removed if I am not mistaken wicky

If they are, then thay sound beautiful on song and on the over-run. Trouble is they still weigh a ton-and-a-half each.

Basically you are all correct. Certainly they are big bore, but still subdued a little regarding the noise. They are not straight through. I had them professionally done to my requirements of noise, and that is what I ended up with. The cops here love to have a crack at after market pipes. I was pulled up before I changed them, because I had just polished them the cop was accusing me of modifing them based on his opinion that they did not look as old as the bike. When that happens you are guilty till you can prove otherwise. That means you have to obtain certification to prove they are legal or pay the fine. So with this in mind I didn't want to go too loud, so they max out at 100db, just a little over.

Yes and they do sound great on the over run, ok on song.

100dB I know we're getting but that's way over the limit (94dB from memory). Of course it all depends on how you measure it. Regardless, the weight saving alone makes it worth ditching the original cans, not to mention more (and more useable) HP . The tailight mod looks the goods tho Sarg . Haven't seen that bum bad before either- where's that from?

sarg had his bum pad embroidered at one of those t'shirt/hat kiosks down at the local mall. (word gets around Dave) Looks pretty good too.

This is dead right. I took a digital photo in and he copied that.

Cost $50 for setup and $16 for the sewing. (From memory). If there is anyone local that wants this done, just let me know because the setup is payed for. All it will cost is the sewing.

Bob the pipes where moded by Performance exhausts in Slacks Creek, Logan. I am unsure if they advertised in the mags mentioned.
