Anybody been down the path yet?

I've ordered a Dynojet shift rod (Rod A, FYI) that I'm pretty sure I can make work, but what did you use?

This is the rod:

Our stock TRX rod is about ~180mm, less 60mm for the ignitech switch leaves us 120mm rod needed, the Dynojet is 136mm, but has 3 x 7.5mm sections on each end you can chop off, I plan to take one off each end, leaving us with 121mm.

How much was the rod from Dynojet?

Great, that's what I was looking for! Was wondering if I should but the sensor at the top or the bottom, wasn't sure there was enough clearance at the top, good to know there is, cos that's where I would prefer it.

The last thing I ordered locally (not from these guys) took 2 weeks to get a reply, then another week for a follow up, then the week after they called & said they couldn't get the parts, here's a refund, sorry.

ok, so here is the measurements from mine



for the over all length, obviously you will want it the same as the linkage rof you remove, and remember the the thread at the bottom is where it goes into the pedal is a reverse thread

Awesome, thanks mate. That all checks out with my rough measurements, just need to find some M6 threaded rod to couple it all together.

(Looks like you're a couple of splines out on the gear shaft, that's upsetting my OCD )

This quick shift mechanism is all and good for the high rpm gear changes....understood.
But how does the engine feel when slow up shifting in city traffic...
Guessing that whenever the left foot is used upwards ..there will be an ignition cut out ?

I'm under the impression there's an activation RPM setting, ie won't come on under X K rpm, but I may be wrong... Either way, you can still use it as normal with or without the clutch, you just need to be firm with your shift (a good thing to be anyway).

You dont need to be particualrly high in the rpm range to get a decent shift, anything north of 500rpm is good really.

Below that it will change up ok, but with a bit of a jolt

Around town I still use it but if really being slugging I just use the clutch,

The beauty of it is that you can fit one and it will not detract at all from how you currently ride but will allow you to shift up very quick if you feel so inclined.

I tend not to use it for first to second as that gear is likely to have the most wear on it and could jump out under hard acceleration

Fair enough comments lads,
I'm in the habit of blipping the throttle on slow up shifts to better align the spinning mass to the next gear.
does the quick shifter have a pulse to the ignition ?..or is the cut-out constant ?
Say I hold the gear lever up after taking another gear....will the switch kill the motor ?

no it just cuts it for a selected interval, the clutch master time, in my case 90ms, and you also set clutch master pause, in my case 500ms which is the amount of time, after a cut, before it will cut again

Over 2500rpm is what IGNITECH has set it to engage the switch

Hmm... interesting. I bought a brake switch months back intending to have a bit of a fiddle around, but it ended up on the Norton!
So where do you buy the dynojet switch from Mick? And normally open or normally closed (or can you program the ignition module to accept either?)

A switch is a switch and only a slave to the master in the ignition module.
so it doesn't matter if its a dynatec or IGNITECH or what ever brand switch or a brake switch.
Thresholds are set in the ignition module as Conrod had mentioned with the attack time and delay once initiated.
