IGNITECH in UK

Post by Silver » Fri Jan 30, 2015 8:47 pm

Have recently received my ignitech from Cobba, but i seem to be having trouble getting a connection to the
PC. I have now tried 2 different USB to RS232 cables with drivers and 2 different PC's . I keep getting the message"COM OPENING ERROR" and when i try to set COM AUTO it spools continuously looking for the right port,.
Seems to me i either have the wrong cable or the CD with the programme is faulty, although the programme opens fine.
Any help would be appreciated particularly if you can steer me towards a cable that definitely works. The latest one from maplin was £25.
Thanks,
dve

Are you trying this on the bike or off? It needs power to connect. Just to add confusion there are 2 different chips in the USB to serial connectors so if you have the wrong one you get nada.
My bike maybe a dinosaur but it still has some bite & has a mighty roar.

Sometimes I wake up grumpy ........ but usually I let her sleep in

Sorted now, but useful tip. Get a cable from ebay, ditch the driver it comes with and download the driver from Initech website. That was what i ended up doing and it worked. TPS set and bike running again.
Only trouble is its snowing again.

When I try to download the driver my PC goes bonkers, mouse arrow wavers and freezes. I get the COM OPENING ERROR message and it cannot find the COM port :x
