Any body have any advice on fitting upgraded running gear to the TRX. I have R1 running gear in my head and have purchased a 5vy swing arm as I prefer the 5 spoke wheels but there is an off set in the swing arm so I may have to re-think. Any advice on swing arms you guys have fitted.

Some FZR front ends bolt straight in.
YZF front ends can be made to fit.
Similar with back ends.
We've even seen single sided VFR back ends fitted.
One recent build was with Aprilia front and back, including spoked wheels.
Where in this big wide world are you?
There may be someone close by who would be willing to show you what they have already done.
Saves a lot of head scratching.

Shame you weren't onboard late last year. Pair of Marchesini 5 spoke wheels where up on offer.
I modded a wider yzf 750 wheel 3 spoke to fit the std swinger as have a few others ( even tho i never used it and just purchased a pair of Dymag SB5's instead)

I'm sure you could easily do the same with a later 5 spoke rear wheel with matching R6 or R1 front end. It's an easier way to keep sprocket alignment and excellent geometry of the trx. Nothing wrong with the stock swing arm and if you want the tough look just weld the bracing in place. Not that hard and a cheaper option if you want the bling factor and added weight.

Thanks dicky. I'm in Newcastle upon tyne. I've done some more measuring and the 05 swing arm should fit with some mods. But anymore advice is appreciated.

Yeh I thought about that option but I have my heart set on the 05 r1 running gear. Il post some pictures soon enough. Thanks for advice. I haven't bought wheels yet so if some come up just shout.

The R1 swing arm is a lot longer than the TRX one, and will most certainly have an effect on the bikes handling.

The easiest option is the YZF 750 arm, but its not to everyones tastes. I fitted a thunderace rear arm to mine, its in keeping with the original but better finished and beefier.
